These Are The 5 Trends You'll Want To Try This Spring/Summer

See this content in the original post

The world is finally starting to normalize after two years of lockdowns and I found myself looking at my calendar for the first time in a long time realizing that I don't have the right pieces to wear to events.

With a black-tie wedding to attend, a mini getaway with my husband, Easter, and my niece's birthday party, April is busy and my social calendar feels packed. I thought it would be a great time to pop into Nordstrom and see what's new.

Before heading out, I made a mental checklist of anything I needed for the season. A pet peeve of mine is buying an outfit for an event like a wedding only to never wear it again. This is why I'm keen on separates. Versatility

Nordstrom has become a go-to destination for me anytime I need to pick up something special so I was excited to see what they had in store for spring.

Keep scrolling to see what spring trends I had a chance to try and how I styled them.

5 Spring Trends You’ll Want To Wear This Year

TREND 1 | PUFF SLEEVE

The puff sleeve is having a moment this season and let me just say - the bigger, the better. This trend is perfect for those who want a dramatic look and want to have fun with fashion. Wear this FRAME Puff Sleeve Crop Top with jeans or utility pants for an elevated daytime look. For evening, pair it with a maxi skirt and heeled sandals.

TREND 2 | COLOUR

From soft pastel shades to bold and bright, colour is in for spring. Bright hues like these orange high-waisted pleated shorts from VINCE are sure to make a statement. Pair it with a striped knit cashmere sweater and high-top Converse like these special edition Rick Owens pair for a casual look.

For a dramatic effect, go full head to toe in a single colour to make a bold statement. Or, add just a single pop of colour and keep it minimal. Either way, have fun playing with colour!

TREND 3 | CUTOUTS

For those who like to show a little bit of skin, cutouts are a great trend to experiment with this spring. This mock-neck cutout top from Open Edit is flattering with a pair of Madewell jeans, and would also look fabulous with oversized black trousers and a pair of chunky loafers.

Add a jacket like this military inspired one by Free People if you want to ease into the cutout trend slowly.

TREND 4 | FLORALS

Florals are practically unanimous with spring and I love the idea of approaching florals in a new light. This quilted Veronica Beard jacket is reversible so you can get maximum wear from the same piece of clothing. The wooden buttons add an almost boho vibe while the cropped length makes it perfect to pair with jeans, shorts, skirts, and dresses. This is the kind of piece that can be dressed up for work or dressed down on the weekends.

TREND 5 | MONOCHROME

Monochrome is classic and effortless and I'm thrilled to see it on the spring runway for 2022. Prada, Chanel, and Dior all presented elegant monochrome looks in fun and interesting silhouettes. Have fun with proportions and pair a puff sleeve shirt like this one from FRAME, with cropped black pants and a pair of chunky boots. Mix lighter feminine fabrics with thick denim and leather to create dimension and texture. This will bring a simple look to life and make it feel chicer. For an evening look, swap the cropped pants for a maxi skirt and the boots for a heel. Simple, elegant, and fun.
