The Checkered Blazer

A good checkered blazer is one of the most versatile and timeless pieces one can have in their closet. It’ll transition seamlessly from fall to winter, spring and summer. It’ll dress up even a basic t-shirt and make one feel more polished and put-together. Best of all, you don’t have to break the bank to add one of these staple pieces into your wardrobe. In this post, I’ve rounded up some of my current favorite blazers in classic brown and grey.

Breaking Down 20 of Kristen Stewart's Best Looks

In a world full of trend followers and Kardashian look-alikes, it's very apparent that Kristen Stewart dresses for herself. Whether it's walking the red carpet in Cannes wearing Chanel or strolling her LA neighborhood in jeans, a t-shirt, and Vans, it's clear she’s just doing Kristen.
It's almost like she has two style alter-egos, and yet regardless of what she’s wearing, the essence of who she is as a person and artist always comes through.
Her style is truly inspiring to me and I love how she can rock androgynous looks just as much as the glamorous ones.
Kristen is always experimenting with different hairstyles and I only realized after researching this post that her makeup is often matched to her outfits. Her looks are thoughtful, chic, badass, cutting edge, and polished all in one.
Keep scrolling for my favorite looks from this Chanel ambassador.

1// Kristen looking chic and edgy in a grey suit with a matching bra top. She accessorized with a pair of flattering round sunglasses and a her classic silver chains.

2// Kristen looking elegant in a tweed Chanel suit. Her eyes are rimmed in bold black eye liner that compliment the sharpness of this red carpet look at TIFF.

3// A look so few can pull off. Kristen wears an open crisp white shirt, sans bra, a tailcoat blazer, ankle length black trousers, and white Adidas sneakers. She accessorized with silver aviator eyeglasses, her iconic silver chains, and a bold purple eye.

4// Kristen at Cannes wearing a sheer Chanel gown with a full skirt. The vibes are 50’s housewife, but an edgy twist as Kristen’s bleach blonde hair is brushed back, and this elegant un-done sort of way. Her bold red lip and sleek cat eye truly bring the retro-chic look full circle.

5// Kristen’s 2019 SNL promo wearing a baby tee, worn inside out, and cobalt blue baggy jeans. She looks radiant in neutral coloured makeup and a pair of aviator eyeglasses.

6// Kristen wearing Chanel and Brunello Cucinelli.

7// A bronzed Kristen on set for Charlie’s Angels, wearing an oversized beige knitted sweater.

8// Kristen at Cannes wearing a bold red lip and white Chanel knitted track suit.

9// Kristen wearing a black suit with velvet lapel and pocket details, and a pair of patent leather brogues. She opted out of wearing a top and went for a black lace bralette instead.

10// Kristen wears a burnt red suit from Sandro Paris, with a matching lip, and slick back hair.

11/ Another Cannes look wearing a sheer black Chanel gown. Kristen’s hair is done in soft, but bold curls piled on top of her head, complimenting the geometric folds in the organza dress.

12// Kristen wearing a mini beige and silver sparkly Chanel dress in Cannes. She pairs the look with round sunglasses and silver ankle strap heels.

13// Kristen wearing an orange denim jacket and clear eyeglasses on the set of Charlie’s Angels.

14// Kristen wearing an asymmetrical lace blouse and sharp trousers from Rodarte. Her makeup has the same romantic badass vibe as the outfit as she rocks pink blush on her temples, cheeks and eyes.

15// Kristen wearing a beautiful black and white number in Paris.

16// Kristen wearing an ivory Chanel suit with a lace bra.

17// Kristen sitting front row at Chanel’s fall/winter 2019 show wearing a navy Chanel catsuit and red sunglasses.

18// Kristen often starts her red carpet appearances in heels and often changes to sneakers towards the end. It’s so indicative of her lifestyle as one of the top actors in the industry going to prestigious awards, and being on set, and then living a humble low-key life in LA.

19// Kristen looking stunning and fresh in a striped dress from Chanel (naturally), mint green smoked out eyes and a bold pink lip. Her hair is pinned back by a bunch of overlapping bobby pins that just look insanely good, but still very chic and red carpet appropriate.

20// In a video for Allure, Kristen’s makeup artist Beau Nelson discussed how his inspiration for her white cat eyeliner came from the dress she wore on the red carpet. He started by shaping her eye with a taupe shadow, and then added a chic white liner. He then serendipitously came across some tiny white pearls in his kit, which he glued along Kristen’s last line. As much as I love her makeup looks, this one has to be one of my favourites.

What I Wore This Week, Ep. 2 | Sweatpants, Stripes & Snakeskin

This past week on Instagram went a little something like this.
Geoff and I visited the real Schitt’s Creek, aka, Goodwood, Ontario. Just north of Toronto, this little quaint town is exactly as it looks on the TV show, with a few varying details - Rose Apothecary is actually Romni Wools, a knitting shop closed for the winter that will be re-opening in April. Café Tropical isn’t a restaurant, but a private residence. Bob’s Garage is a wheelchair workshop, and Roland’s House is a real residence. You can find more details on my Instagram here, and a video tour on my IG Stories highlights. For our trip, I wore sweatpants and a graphic Balenciaga scarf that I only hope David Rose would approve of.
Monday marked the first whole week back to work for many of us after the 2019 X-mas/New Year break. After nearly three years of working from home as a freelance blogger, I felt it was time for a change and started the new year with a new office job. You might see more business casual looks on my social media, but don't worry, they'll still be edgy. On top of my Monday to Friday day job, I'll also continue to produce new content for the blog, Instagram, and YouTube.
Finally, I announced this week on my IG that I will be starting a conscious consumption year. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now and I’m at a point where I’m very happy with the contents of my closet, so it feels like the timing is right. The awesome part is that some of you guys are also starting, or going into your second low-buy year, so I feel like we can support each other in this journey. I’ll be uploading a video on this to my YouTube channel soon, so be sure you’re subscribed!
Keep scrolling for my full week in outfits.
1// SWEATPANTS & SWEATSHIRT

Wearing Essentials sweatpants, a black sweatshirt, and a Balenciaga logo scarf with a beige coat on a chilly winter day.

2// BALENCIAGA KNIFE MULES IN BRONZE

Here I’m wearing a cropped beige jacket from LPA clothing, a white tank, black paper bag waist pants, and my Balenciaga bronze leather knife mules. This colour was a Net-a-porter exclusive which I happened to score on sale a while back.
3// LOUIS VUITTON EMPREINTE LEATHER MONOGRAM BUMBAG

One of my favourite purchases from last year was this Louis Vuitton empreinte leather monogram bumbag. For my review on this bag, head over to my YouTube channel, youtube.com/woahstyle.
4// CHANEL JUMBO FLAP BAG

Wearing my Chanel patent leather jumbo flap bag and styled it similarly to the brand’s Gabrielle bag.
5// STRIPED SWEATER WORN TWO WAYS

Pairing black & white with neutrals for a daytime, work appropriate look. I love how the faux-snakeskin Alexander Wang Parker loafers add something unexpected to the outfit.

Styling the same outfit with my green satin Balenciaga BB slingbacks and my Chanel jumbo flap bag.
6// WINTER LAYERS

Finally, a throwback to my New York trip last year. I took this photo as I was just finishing packing. There’s no way I would have put my Away carry-on on the bed otherwise.

The Greige Coat

A greige colored plaid coat looks amazing with black faded skinny jeans and a black sweater. The burgundy boots add a pop of color and break up an otherwise monotoned outfit.

Maja Wyh Makes A Statement in Faux Fur

German influencer, Maja Wyh, has a lust-worthy closet that we can only dream of owning. She’s known for pairing oversized pieces with skinny jeans, although these days we’re seeing her wearing more tailored basics and wide-leg trousers.
It’s this elevator-selfie of Maja wearing a stunning brown fur jacket with gold aviator frames that made me stop scrolling through Pinterest and say to myself , “Ugh, I love this outfit!”. I love how the clothes she’s wearing consist of basics, but it’s her jacket that makes her outfit pop. Just goes to show that sometimes simple is best.

How To Style Shiny Patent Leather Pants

If you’re like me and love the look of shiny patent leather pants, but you’re reluctant about what to pair them with, fear not. Below I’m explaining why this outfit works and how you can take those style tips to apply to your own wardrobe.
A feminine blouse with voluminous sleeves in a silk or satin fabric will instantly add some glamour to patent leather and make it appear more high-fashion.
If you're looking for a coat or blazer for your outfit, consider a black or grey plaid number if you have a cool-tone white blouse. If you've opted for warm-whites (ivory, cream, ecru), then run with the warm theme by adding a beige or brown neutral-toned coat or blazer. A pop of color is also a good option, as we see in with the red glasses worn here.
Finally for shoes, texture will be your best friend. Go for a faux snakeskin or an elegant jacquard boot to create separation from your pant and boot.

I’m very much a homebody, so my ideal New Year’s Eve situation is hanging out on the couch with a glass of bubbly and watching some Netflix. Despite this, here are some outfits I wore/ featured on my Instagram this past week.

3// WINTER LOUNGEWEAR

Maison Margiela REPLICA BY THE FIREPLACE

If you’re a fan of warm and mysterious scents, then you should definitely check out Maison Margiela’s By The Fireplace scent from their REPLICA Collection.
“By the Fireplace is a warm and spicy fragrance that evokes the comforting sensation of a crackling fireplace beside a frosted winter landscape with enveloping notes of clove, chestnut, and vanilla accord.”
The scent has a similar vibe to Jazz Club, another Margiela favourite of mine for many years now.
“Jazz Club is a woody and spicy fragrance that reminisces of an anthology of classic cocktails and coppery tones through balmy, rich notes of rum absolute blended with an underscore of tobacco leaf absolute.”
Finally if you want to dip your toes into the water before committing to a full bottle, check out the REPLICA Memory Box limited edition set, which includes 10 of Maison Margiela’s evocative fragrances (2mL each scent) - Lazy Sunday Morning, Jazz Club, Beach Walk, At the Barber's, By the Fireplace, Music Festival, Flower Market, Sailing Day, Under the Lemon Trees, and Whispers in the Library.
